DRONE PILOT HIRE FOR FILM & TV
Production-location aerial filming with DJI Mavic 4 Pro and Mini 5 Pro.
Book a dedicated drone pilot for establishing shots, location sequences and production B-roll — standalone or alongside EPK and behind-the-scenes coverage.
PRODUCTION AERIALS
Establish the location before the action starts
Aerials are most useful when they have a job to do. For film and television productions, that often means establishing where the production is taking place, showing the scale of a location or giving editors a clean transition into a BTS sequence, interview or featurette.
Mark Jury operates a compact DJI drone setup that can be added to an existing EPK day or booked separately for dedicated aerial filming.
Flights are planned around the shot purpose, location, production schedule, airspace and safe operating conditions.
WHAT WE CAN CAPTURE
- Wide establishing shots of production locations
- Approaches, reveals and pull-backs
- Landscape and environment around the set
- Studios, estates, venues and exterior unit locations where permitted
- Tracking shots and controlled moving aerials
- High-angle views for BTS, publicity and production archive use
AIRCRAFT OPTIONS
Two drones. Different production advantages.
The aircraft is chosen around the location, shot requirements and operating conditions rather than forcing every job onto the same platform.
DJI MAVIC 4 PRO
Primary production drone
A 4/3 Hasselblad main camera with 6K HDR capture, plus additional telephoto options for flexible framing without having to put the aircraft unnecessarily close to the subject.
- 6K / 60fps HDR from the main camera
- Wide, medium-tele and tele perspectives
- Useful for large exteriors, landscapes and location scale
- Controlled tracking and reveal shots
- High-resolution aerial photography
DJI MINI 5 PRO
Compact aerial option
A lightweight aircraft with a 1-inch sensor and 4K HDR capture. Its small footprint makes it a useful second option when the location and flight plan favour a lighter aircraft.
- 1-inch 50MP camera
- 4K / 60fps HDR
- 4K / 120fps slow motion
- Compact and quick to deploy
- Useful for lightweight location coverage
PRODUCTION USES
Built around film and television production
Drone work can be integrated with the wider publicity brief instead of being treated as a separate collection of attractive aerials with no obvious place in the edit.
EPK & BTS
Establishing aerials that cut naturally into cast interviews, BTS sequences and featurettes.
LOCATION PUBLICITY
Aerial views that show the setting, scale and geography of a production location for press and campaign material.
STANDALONE DRONE UNIT
Book the pilot separately when the production only needs aerial footage or a dedicated location sequence.
CAA QUALIFIED & INSURED
Flight planning is part of the job
Mark holds GVC and A2 CofC qualifications and operates with commercial drone insurance and Operational Authorisation.
Every flight is considered against the location and the actual production activity on the day. Airspace, weather, people, nearby buildings, site permissions and safe take-off / landing positions all affect what can be flown.
If a planned aerial cannot be carried out safely or legally, we will say so rather than force the shot.
BEFORE THE SHOOT
For an accurate flight assessment, send:
- Exact filming location / what3words
- Proposed filming date and call time
- What needs to be filmed
- How the aerial footage will be used
- Site or landowner contact where relevant
- Any known restrictions or production activity nearby
UK COVERAGE
Drone pilot hire across the UK
Available for film, television, branded productions, production companies, publicity teams and agencies across the UK. Travel and accommodation are quoted where required.
For EPK assignments, aerial filming can be planned alongside the ground camera schedule so the footage works as one package.
PRACTICAL QUESTIONS
Drone filming FAQ
Can you fly at any production location?
No. The flight has to be safe and legal. We assess airspace, nearby people and structures, take-off and landing areas, permissions and the activity taking place around the set before confirming the aerial plan.
What happens if the weather prevents flying?
Drone filming is weather-dependent. If the aerial element cannot be completed safely, any separately planned ground EPK or BTS filming can continue. For drone-only bookings, we will discuss the practical options based on the production schedule.
Can the drone be added to an EPK filming day?
Yes. That is often the most useful approach for location productions. Establishing aerials can be captured around the ground EPK schedule where conditions, permissions and timing allow.
Can you provide the aerial footage without editing?
Yes. Camera originals can be supplied for your own post-production team, or the footage can be incorporated into an EPK, featurette or publicity edit.
